Experience the wide range of culture found in Ethiopia: This two-week tour takes you first to the historic sites of the north, the heart of an ancient Christian culture. Then in the south, you’ll encounter the wild origins of the continent: It’s savannah, wildlife and many tribes will be seen along the Omo River in the same places where their ancestors once lived.

Day 1: Morning flight Addis Ababa – Bahir Dar: Lake Tana monastries and the Blue Nile Falls

Day 2: Bahir Dar– the imperial city of Gonder: Royal Enclosure, the Church of Debre Birhan Selassie and Fasilidas’ Pool

Day 3: Day trip to the Simien Mountains National Park, short hiking tour

Day 4: Morning flight Gonder – Lalibela: rock-hewn churches

Day 5: Morning flight Lalibela – Addis Abeba: city tour

Day 6: Addis Abeba – Awassa

Day 7: Awassa: fish market – Arba Minch (optionally via Dorze)

Day 8: Arba Minch: boat trip to the Lake Chamo crocodile market – Karat-Konso: Konso villages and the sculpted sand formation at Gesergiyo village (‘New York’)

Day 9: Karat-Konso – Weyto (Tsemai country) – Key Afar (Ari country) – Jinka (Ari country)

Day 10: Jinka – trip to the Mursi villages in the Mago National Park – Jinka

Day 11: Jinka – Dimeka (Hamer country) – Hamer villages at Turmi

Day 12: Turmi – Arbore – Karat-Konso – Arba Minch

Day 13: Arba Minch – optionally Lake Chitu Hora in the Abiata-Shala National Park – Lake Langano

Day 14: Lake Langano  – Debre Zeyt – Addis Ababa
